Actually Van Gogh was born in Zundert, Noord-Brabant, on the Belgian-Dutch border, an area where people use the soft-G (as they do in Belgium as well) not the one you heard here on the show. So HE would have pronounced his name with a much softer sounding G, not the throar-disease sound you hear here.
