Del Monaco in this video does something special related to breathing at minute 1:48 can be seen as using the "breathing continued" nothing unusual in singing to join two sentences, very difficult because it requires a lot of air, as it should do not interrupt the phrasing, Del Moncaco uses "breathing continued" in a masterly way, to ensure that air will make the entire sentence without a single breath.

A great Dramatic Tenor. MDM and Ramon Vinay are wonderful Othello's. They are outstanding. Their voices have the power virility and heft that is required! I like Vickers and McCracken in this role too. Domingo was wonderful but his interpretation was more lirico spinto than true Dramatic but impressive and intelligent. I would have loved to hear Tucker do Otello as well.

Really not great... I don't get all the hype around MDM.. He has a fantastic instrument, and at times produces some beautiful and very masculine sounds, but overall he is unmusical. Not to mention unduly nasaly at times.. There are times when it is all in the nose.. This kind of interpretation doesn't fly.. Especially all the nasal singing.
