  • i quite often handle my orandas... but in the water... checking for problems is easier if they let u hold them a little.. But lifting out of water causes alot of stress for them. just be carefull with removing them like that.... they will thank you for it :)

  • this is very mean and could hurt it and stresses it out , all i do is put finger in tank and let it come up to me on its on and it chases my finger

  • Taking your fish out of the water can really damage the poor little guys!!! When fish like that are taken out of the water their swim-bladders colapse, eventually suffocating all in a matter of minutes!!!!! Also, if you are too rough "Petting" them or taking them out of the water you can like, how can i say, CUT them or break the scales. Seriously, i have a Red Cap Oranda and i would never risk him getting hurt by doing something so mean and unnesessary. NO OFFENCE 2 ANYONE.

  • i had 2 goldfish that were about a foot long each. i used to put my hand in the tank and pet them as they swam by. they died about a year ago though. i could never really name them because we started out with 12 and i lost track of who was who.

  • @TheYassT Fish are perfectly capable of panicking or squirming around. That's what mine would do if I tried this.

  • @RenoTurk I don't think so. He's taking them out the water, they have no choice to just stay there and not move!

  • I wouldn't class THAT as petting. You have to take them out to be able to pet them? What? Can't you do it with them in the water? Thats just cruel. FYI if your fish is that trusting it will let you pet him in the water, mine does. No unnecessary cruelty needed.

  • @latnahc i know right

  • Those fish must really trust you.
