From the "PREMIO CIAK SI LEGGE-Grinzane Cinema 2004", the booktrailer of "The Man Who Planted Trees". Inspired by the Jean Giono's book. Directed by Stefano Caprioli, Eva Volpato and Daniele Bruni.
The animation on this is done with artists pastels--colored chalk, one frame at a time. Very impressionistic and ethereal. Saw it first at an animated film festival in the 80's, but I have no idea of where it originated. I've ordered the DVD, so maybe it can be uploaded in segments.
I wish someone would post the video of this animated story. I fisrt saw it on PBS' "Long Ago and Far Away". Narrated by Christopher Plummer, it was just magical, a wonderful story, beautifully animated and scored.
