The place right behind the mane (i dont know what its called, tell me!) is supposed to be the highest place on the horse when it jumps. Sorry for my awful english.

he doesn't pull the horse's head up at all, he holds a short release and keeps a steady contact..so his horse won't get away from him after the fence. It's actually something more riders should practice these days. It's so sloppy seeing so many doing the long loopy release. All it does is make you drop your horse over the fence.

your horses head has nothing to do weather he clears it and accually its a bad thing because rider restriction can cause a horse to knock down a rail with their hind leg :also it would be good if he tryed to ride more classically but hey what do you expect from a guy rider...no style lol :P

my best friend's mom is Misti Cassar, a grand prix rider who rides against spooner frequently. He has a funny, unique way of jumping. He pulls his horse's head up over the jumps, in order to assure the horse will clear it. Not a bad technique if you ask me..

He always gives his horse a mint once he gets done a round. That's not a common thing for some people.

richard spooner is my fav riderr of all time! hes super nice too! once me and my friends were at a grand prix a few years ago and we like had a whole conversation we got to pet his horse and he gave us each tips with problems we were having it was freakin awesome!
