  • Canadians have a low threshhold for clevernees. If you don't like US healthcare, move to Canada. We will welcome you back for the specialized treatment you won't be able to timely get in Canada. You may then sue your provinical government when it refuses to reimburse you for the cost. O, Canada!

  • Thank you! I'm in the US and until now was woefully ignorant about Tommy Douglas. Now I've got a new hero.

Yes, we do need someone like him in the US. The health care horror stories come out every day. NPR ran a story about a 99 year old woman being evicted from her managed care facility because she's come to the end of her savings. She went in with half a million US dollars in savings, they've taken it all, and now they want to throw her out on the street. What are we coming to?

  • Tommy Douglas was the founder of Canada's "Medicare for all" health system. Americans need just such a courageous leader to take on the fat cat insurers who profit from our vulnerabilities. The US could save billions and cover everyone by forming one large pool, sharing risk and cost. We would pay for health care as we now pay for fire protection. Politicians keep trying to protect the insurers. Why? We now get along without the tobacco companies who were likewise detrimental to our health.
