  • Thought you said you can't change squelch level? You're hovering over the setting in the menu several times in this vid ;)

Got one my self and sure is a nice little radio for the money.

  • @trylleklovn Yup by step you can, I was referring to the normal variable type adjustment normally found and imo much better.

    :D

  • does it have a scrambler in it ?

    thanks

  • @ryanperry90 NO scrambler in this model.

  • Is it possible to work on some local pmr freqs like 446.00625 with this wouxun. the icoms are to expensive for me .

  • @prickskytte Very much so, works well too ;-)

  • @gompus1

    hahaha no problem..

just drop it from waist level to the tar on the road which are rougher than cement.. and yest a dimple and its still moving...

    i mean working

    hahahaha

  • @gompus1 The plastic is actually quite well. I work EMS in my county and I've dropped mine once, only to find that it left a dimple on the bottom of the radio. Battery locks in quite well, everything about it works nicely. Two things, Buy a programming cable, and consider a different antenna. My antenna must have barely passed the quality control, the whip is starting to come out of the base, and I haven't even tugged on it. :( AMAZING radio though.

  • Very informative, it would have been nice, if you got more actual receive traffic, so that we could get an idea of the internal speaker's audio quality. My Yaesu VX-7 has a magnesium chassis, I wonder how that Wouxun's plastic case would survive a drop on cement from a belt loop fall, probably, not very well??

  • I have just come into contact with this little handheld and am quite pleased, over the years I have had different brands and this one is just as good as any out there, despite the fact that it is totally manufactured in China and carries a Chinese name, I'll just bet that more parts then we can think of in the "name brand" units are made in China.

I can find fault with every radio that I have used over the years so this one is no different, however, I like this radio.

  • @hlevi3340 there are many websites with instructions on programming these radios. there is a yahoo group that has all the software you need. cheers islandcomms

  • An excellent review. I'm considering one of these myself. I'm surprised at that because I never thought much of the Chinese handies when they came out.

  • I'm in the market and look for 70cm coverage as well as 2m and for the price this looks like a decent unit. Sounds like you didn't get any responses to your CQ... :(

  • There exists a distributor in the UK now, not too far from the price they are going for on a popular auction site as well!

  • Does this radio have tone scan capabilities or do you have to manually put them in?
