I attempt to put my psp back together in a different case....

Yeah i run into a lot of problems but i still got the job done...

--------------------------------------------
Ok I decided to add some more info just in case you guys are debating about doing the mod...

1. I got the full clear case from http://stores.ebay.com/CoolMods for around $56. Though, I think at another store, they were also selling chrome red, chrome blue, and white full cases too.

2. How easy is it? Well I've replaced the wifi board of a psp (which practically requires you to take everything out)before i did this mod so.. If this is the first time you're opening your psp, i suggest you take pictures of where things go and stuff. Make sure you don't lose any screws too. A pretty good tutorial on getting to the back parts of your psp would be the video for psp2tv.

3. Sorry for not posting up a video on how to disassemble a psp. I'm in the works of doing another full case mod so maybe I'll get some footage soon.

4. There's a good chance that everything might not go the way u want the first time. Like after I stuck all the things together, some buttons were stuck, it looked like something was pushing against the screen, and it just felt tighter and more fragile. So you might have to take it back apart and adjust some things.

5. Last and not least, DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK FOR HELP ON FORUMS OR ANYTHING... even though i didn't, i still think it would be best if you do... better to seem like a noob rather than end up with a heavy paper weight.

ADDED 8/9/07: I've been getting messages about people asking for other tutorials on replacing other things besides faceplates or cases. They were looking for things like how to replace the lcd screen, replacing wifi board, and etc. I might post other videos for those things if I have the time.

Also I've been getting messages about UMD problems after the full case mod. First thing that may come to mind is "SHIET... I PHUCKING MESSED UP THE UMD DRIVE". That may not be the case. Try loosening or tightening the screws that hold the UMD drive in your case (should be the 4 screws in the corners of the UMD drive behind the UMD door). Mine used to make really weird grinding noises that freaked the hell outta me and I didn't know if I messed up the laser or something but I loosened some screws and the noise disappeared. Another guy messaged me back saying that his problem was that some of the gears were getting caught on the case itself and he just needed to cut a little of the plastic off to make it work.

Any other questions just message me.. ill try to help any way i can

  • is there a PSPgo case mod???

  • @KingVirmire yeah there are although i have no clue as to how hard that would be... although i'm always up to a challenge... :3

  • LOL You have the same x-mod screwdriver I have lol. I am just about to attempt this with a case I found at DealExtreme for (Get this) 13 bucks. so yea cross those fingers for me.

  • @GreaterWood be a little careful with that one, I bought one from there and it actually looked better than the one in the video but I ran into more problems... although its not something that you shouldn't be able to fix...

  • U suck putting a psp together I could have done it half the time it took u to

  • @MrCorben50 If you got nothing nice to say then don't even say anything. For your info it was the first time I took it apart and certain things weren't fitting correctly. Now if you got some problem with my video go find another one to troll on. -M!K3-

"I heard this guy say to his friend, 'Man, I'm really good at checkers.' Which is the same as saying, 'Man, I'm not good at a lot of things.'"

  • Nice job! it looks perfectly clear!

  • @itg4mike Don't worry about him he probably doesn't take his time and f***s up his psp during the shell changing. I assume he strips all his screws.

  • i like the part where it takes for ever.

  • volcom!

  • @geoflaw275 I would try and replace the frames around the case, as sometimes the switch that comes with it, does not fit correctly.

  • @GreaterWood i replaced mine witha clear case, and now mine won't turn on either! what gives. the power won't come on. what do i do?!?!?!

  • @itg4mike Yea, Some of the buttons stick, so I am going to just drop the ones that came with it, and revert to my old buttons which didn't stick. I had to replace part of the frame (going to do the rest) also because it was effing up my power switch (I wasn't able to turn on the PSP at all) but overall, its pretty cool looking.
