if you really knew your Chrysler history, then you would know that the LHS was designed as the ultimate luxury second generation LH. The 300m was originally meant to be the eagle version, a sporty version of the LH platform. When Chrysler canned Eagle, the car became the 300m. The black cluster and clock and other sporty features went out as a cost cutting move. Chrysler also cut some unique features of the LHS with the goal being that the two interiors could be identical and share all parts.
ya i agree...i have a 99300m built in 98. i also work at a Chrysler dealer and the 300m is known to be the most luxurious of the lh family..black gauges....not for me
Well...I don't have a 1999 brochure...but I do have the pictures of the concept 300m...complete with black cluster and the black clock.
As I said...the black clock / cluster never made it to production. It was considered to sporty and they borrowed the cluster from the second gen LHS concept.
I was able to secure a black clock from a source near the production of the first 300m's. This is what is in my dash in the video.
Yes the 300M was the successor to the Vision and was originally slotted to BE the vision, as much as I hate to admit that. The LH Platform itself can be traced back to the Lmabo Portofino concept car, that Im quite proud to admit. I'm sorry though, youre the one mistaken here about the clusters. I own a Year One 300M, a 99 built in 98. I still have the brochure from 98 and theres one cluster and one clock in all 99-02 300Ms. The white retro guages were a major part of the interior styling.
I am not mistaken on the clusters...you are just misinformed. You are correct, the production 300m 120 MPH speedo was the basic cluster throughout the years. This was borrowed from the LHS after they decided the black cluster was too sporty for the 300m. At that time, the 300m body style was to become the second gen Eagle Vision. Chrysler was in the process of dropping the Eagle name, and thus the body style became the 300m. The Eagle Vision orginially had a black custer and a black clock.
I see. Its your car and to each his own. Youre mistaken though on the clsuters. No 300M's of any year came with a differant cluster (except the Special edition with the same cluster but with a 150mph speedo). I have a 99 300M, which was the 1st year and a 2000 PHP one that was bought new.
The first 300m's came with the Concorde Cluster. The LHS cluster is the same as the 300m cluster. What you do not see in this pic is the black clock. Notice that clock does not look like the standard back-lit 300m clock.
Not to be rude but why would you swap a Concorde/LHS cluster into a 300M? The 300M's white face guages are brilliant and are a major part of the 300M's interior beauty.

I am trying to add the link to the concept photos here, but it will not let me. I have included the link in the "info" part of the video.

To match the rare black clock.
