  • As under the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations (PECR) and the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA) as well as the European ePrivacy Directive, that interception and processing of communications requires either explicit informed consent from all parties or a warrant.

  • I work on campus of a big 10 university. We have Barracuda Firewall. Recently content filtering went into effect. Any gaming site or MMORPG now is blocked as "Game Media." An anime e-tailer I've ordered a lot of anime from on my lunchbreak before, is blocked as "Adult" because it has hentai titles. A popular gay sex advice podcaster who blogs out of Seattle and speaks/blogs a lot about marriage equality, the whole site is blocked as "Tasteless and Offensive."

  • Yes, it is too late. That is one bell I doubt can be unrung.

    The focus of control needs to be given to the user not the provider. That's how it should be.
