you know.. you keep saying that fish can live 2-3 weeks without food, and being an aquarium owner myself, i know that. But you brought all that on yourself with the title. and i agree with hibs02. i'd rather help out animals than people. i help out homeless people, with a thought in the back of my mind that it could all be from his/her own stupidity. animals do not waste their lives or money on alcohol and stupid crap like that to become homeless.

here's an idea: FEED THE FISH!!!

Why is there anything 'mysterious' in your tank? They are trying to eat something but its not reducing or breaking apart. And it's not just your 'piranha-like' tiger barbs that are starving. They all are. Just feed them some fish food.

I feed my fish once two to three days and they go crazy like this. Its not that they are starved, its that they don't need all that food. Most people dump wads of food into their fishtanks twice a day and all they are doing is polluting the tank. Get off this guys nuts people. i am sure that because his tigers are healthy, as you can see from the video, that he is not "starving: his fish.

To say that these fish have been, 'starved', is a misnomer. Any well established tank will have enough food for the fish to scavenge, or live off, for 2 or 3 weeks. In fact, there are some experts who say that it's good for the fish if they're made to look for their food, rather than being given it, 'on a plate', so to speak. It also cleans your tank a little, too! Unlike humans, they don't know where or when their next meal is coming from, so they do go a bit crazy at meal times.
