@ToddAldrich Its not and the proof is easy country with a high deficit compared to GDP like Greec if the economy would grow faster than the deficit GDP ratio would go down to say 50% that would matter... if the GDP grows faster than the debt than its no problem, which does not mean you should not have an idea how to reduce it. Switzerland has a special Debtbrake which is part of their constitution since 2001during the crisis they invested payed unemploment etc but now they pay debt down.

@jsrobotnics THAT is a VERY GOOD thing. But something you should realize, the "as a % of GDP" is irrelevant to the deficit argument. That is merely the ONLY way the liberals can say it decreased revenues - because in REAL terms, revenues exploded.
-
@kbitney Every single penny of the current deficit occurred under OBAMA's watch.
Your disparaging of "conservative" media is uninformed and baseless.
Media matters is NOT a fact checking site. They are a political SMEAR site that does not care about facts, they care about politics and ONLY politics.

@ToddAldrich Explain, please, how that expression applies or how I wasn't looking at this with an open mind?
-
@ToddAldrich I will agree that there have been both cases of increasing and decreasing the level of taxation and there is no hard evidence to proof one or another has always the same effect. Although CBO says that the level of tax revenue as compared to the country GDP has been the lowest since the 1950s.

@jsrobotnics The whole idea that the tax cuts created the deficit IS A LIE. There was no significant portion of the tax cuts in place when government revenues were plummeting after the Clinton recession. They were not in place until 2003-2004 when the 2003 tax cut accelerated the phase in schedules of the original cut.
Once those tax cuts were in place - the economy rebounded AND SO DID GOVERNMENT TAX REVENUE.

@kbitney1 Talk about DELUSIONAL! Talk about not looking at things with an open mind? Pot and kettle anyone???
-
You're delusional, man.
Mediamatters is a fact-checking site. It targets conservative media, such as fox news, often because conservative media has significantly lower standards for the quality of their information. Can you not look at anything with an open mind?
2009 is still using Bush's budget. Bush created most of the deficit. A large part of the deficit exists, also, because Obama put the wars on the books. They were hidden under Bush's administration.

The video is another half truth, voting for spending is of course deficit creating at least for the budget especially taxcuts. What was wrong about that? Of course its a Republican standing point but this was not the question. The question was did he stand up to Bushs administration and if yes when did he do it? And if you dont see how Fox is bias after News Crop spending 1 Million $ to Rep. Party I doubt you would see anything.

OMG! How enraging. I had not seen this and thank you for making me aware of it.
