Anonymous to Scientology: You Can't Stop the Signal

Hello leaders of Scientology.
We are Anonymous.

Over the past months we have watched your reaction to our peaceful campaign. We have watched you respond with fear and malevolence to our nonviolent protests. We know that you are angry because you sincerely believe you are saving the world. But no moral organization attempts to rid the world of evil by perpetrating horrendous acts against its members and critics. This was no more effective for the Crusades and the Inquisition as it is for you.

Your long-time opponents are correct when they call the internet your Waterloo. So long as we possess both life and an upstream, we will fight you. So long as anyone can create an untraceable e mail account, a photo gallery, and a video channel, we will be one step ahead of you. You can no more stop us than you can strip the entire Earth of cameraphones and copies of Movie Maker.

So long as the internet remains free, you can not beat us. We are your first brush with genuine collective intelligence. None of us are as powerful as all of us. We are gestalt. We are more than the sum of our parts. We are doctors, lawyers, accountants, veteran activists, students and teachers. We are conservative and liberal. We are all races and ethnicities, all economic brackets, all walks of life. We are a global network of concerned citizens who trust and help one another. We do so out of compassion and personal conviction, not fear and indoctrination.

We are free thinkers. If one of our members behaves in a way contrary to our group's principles, we will not support him. Your accusations of violent threats perpetrated by members of Anonymous do not reflect the philosophy of our group. They are blatant lies. You are very accustomed to telling lies.

To date, not a single member of Anonymous has done injury to anyone in the Church of Scientology. On the other hand, Church members and agents have bullied members of Anonymous. You have invaded our homes, harassed our neighbors and families, sent private investigators to monitor us, and done injury to us and those around us. You have a documented history of driving your critics to suicide or attempting to frame them for crimes. You claim to be a persecuted group, but that is a lie. You are the group who have persecuted us, for the crime of wishing to spread information.

However, no matter how violent or disingenuous your response, it does not matter to us. We own the net. For every video channel you shut down, ten more will spring up. For every video you pull offline, 200 copies exist on various harddrives just waiting to be posted. For every member of Anonymous you do ill to, you enrage dozens more and prompt them to take up the cause. Information is truth. We own the truth. We will see that it is delivered.

You can not silence us.

You can not beat us.

You can not stop the signal.

If you crash our servers, we will make new ones. If you take down our domains, more will be registered. We are the ever-adapting, ever-evolving rulers of this sphere.

You have already lost this war. You lost the moment you attempted to take that stupid Tom Cruise video offline. You lost the very instant you presumed to beat us in a game for information.

We were battle-hardened long before your arrival. You have no idea what you are up against. We see now that our petty struggles with other organizations and entities in the past were all in preparation for this very moment. We have matured. We have chosen for ourselves a noble cause.

Knowledge is free.

The truth is free.

We are Anonymous.
We are Legion.
We do not forgive.
We do not forget.

We are your worst nightmare and you will not be waking up.
