Looks like the little girl at 35 seconds isn't real sure yet if she's gonna enjoy this or not ..... bet she did though. I have 5 of them, so I've gotten pretty good at reading body language. For instance, I can now figure out EXACTLY when to duck, to avoid a slap from one of the 4-year old twins after I steal a piece of Halloween candy. All I have to do is watch the eyes. When they start squinting in that certain peculiar way, it's time for me to MOVE. Daddy-Instincts. :) :)

I see. All I wanna say is those guys are REALLY lucky. I volunteer for a standard guage tourist railroad and we have to survive completely by ticket sales and what little gift shop money we get. It's what one gets for not operating in tourist country. Still, loboring on an observation deck seems like a waste of time and energy.
Why did they blow money on an observation deck and not on bridging the washout?! wtf!

The lumber was donated to them from some one like Home Depot. They could have never come up with enough money to build the bridge on their own. A government grant payed for all the prep and a steel bridge which is now in service there.

Great Video, very well done!
I know to well about washouts, I'm a locomotive engineer. Our shortline had a washout last week. The locomotives went from 40 MPH to 0 MPH in the length of a 120 feet. The crew was lucky, they ended up with some bruises. I hope you get the funding to fix your line, you guys have a great looking steam locomotive and cars.

Ouch! On a standard gauge train. Rough stuff. The RGN people inspected the line each morning and found the hole. They "do" have their bridge and are running the complete line these days. I have not been able to get to the Dells since this video. That's a 5 hour drive for me.

are they gonna attempt to rebuild the line from where it was washed out?

With the help of government aid (money) they now have a two support, flat platform, steel bridge that crosses the opening and gets them to the end of the line at Western Springs. Check out "Riverside and Great Northern an engineers view" on youtube, for some current video.
