A contingent of Iraqi National Police officers, escorted by former Beaver police chief Anthony Hovanec, toured the county's emergency services center and visited Beaver Wednesday as part of an international effort to strengthen that embattled nation's security forces.
"We want them to get the idea of police and community members working for a goal is better than the authoritarian type of policing," said Hovanec, an Industry resident who retired from Beaver in September 2007 before spending three years training Iraqi officers in Baghdad for Dyn Corp. International.
