Masada, ancient mountaintop fortress in southeastern Israel, site of the Jews last stand against the Roman after the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70.
Massada occupies the entier top of isolated mesa near the southwest coast of the Dead Sea[1424feet above the level of the Dead Sea]
The site was settled at the time of the First temple[c.900BC],but is renowned for the palace and fortification of Herod the Great [reigned 37-4BC] king of Judaea under Romans and for its resistance to Roman siege in AD72-73
The song that I added is from
Shlomo Gronich&The Sheba chor album The song name:"Thou Art My God"
At the begining and at the end of the song the blowing of Shofar [a biblical ritual instrument] is heard.
I love these place so much!
My feeling is that I'm One with the Earth ,the Sky and the Sea.

  • This is a very beautiful video. As I gaze upon this area and listen to this beautiful and soulful hymn.. because to me that's what if sounds like.. It brings tears to my eyes. As you say , it is indeed a very special part of Israel.Although the Romans tried to destroy Israel,, they never destroyed it's people's spirit.. as it is still true today!and nobody ever will..I hope to visit this beautiful country soon..and although I am not Jewish.. my heart and soul is.. Shalom..Denyse

  • Thanks You so much for your beautiful words!

    Shalom !

  • And wow, don't think I ever heard the sound of a Shofar before but I love it.

  • I tried once to blow in a Shofar but it was not easy ! Shlomo Gronich is a very gifted artist who write and sing music in Middle East style ..I love it also.
