Illegal aliens - ICE checkpoint

A group of immigration reform activists set up a fake ICE checkpoint, at the 2010 Netroots Nation 2010 conference in Las Vegas.

Some people got offended. I interviewed Lizbeth Mateo and Yahaira Castillo of thedreamiscoming.org about the reasons why they participated in this action of protest.

ladies, lets not be naieve here. neither one of you would be arrested under this new law. why? well first off you'd be driving with your US STATE DRIVERS LICENSE. second off, you're both "brown" but speak english. hmmm, "brown" person wtih no ID and who doesn't speak the national language vs. "brown" person who speaks english and has an ID. yeah, it's racial profiling.

@MikeyMelee These two students are undocumented Americans, they were raised in this country, they have graduated from high school here, their life is here, but they don't have documents. These two leaders could do so much for this country, the current immigration law is obsolete and needs to be reformed.

Everytime i've ever been pulled over by the police, I have been asked for my license/registration. On a half dozen occasions i've been asked for my id by police while on the street/not driving.

To say that white people aren't asked for identification is bullshit. And yes in my state you cannot get a drivers license if you're not a legal resident, so by proxy they are confirming my residence status when I produce a valid drivers license that they can check.

If someone with a badge and police uniform pulled me over I would happily comply. If someone out of uniform pulled me over I would think they were trying to car jack me. That will earn you a Colt 45 up one of your nostrils. I am permitted legally to carry because I am here LEGALLY! So come on with the shit!

If a cop pulls someone over who speaks no english and either has no ID or a fake ID they check immigration status. Someone speaks english does not give the cop a hard time and has a legit ID will not be looked into. There is no racial profiling here. By stating there will be admits that this group of people has the highest rate of illegal immigrants because through out this whole thing the only people who mentioned race were the morons calling the law racist!

@MikeyMelee it's not just driving, you can be stoped for any law violation. like jaywalking and be asked to show papers, and having a drivers license is not proof of legal status in this country.

@mrchrmedone Actually "white people" are referred to as "Caucasians" which means that all white people are from countries like Chechnya, Republic of Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. Very few "white people" have ancestry in the Caucasus region. White people are not allowed to be Americans.

The people who made this video were representing themselves as a federal agency. That is a fraud that is a felony. Every nation in Europe require you to present your passport as you check in at a hotel, as you cross a border, etc. It is your responsibility to turn in your passport in each town. The US law is simply that you must carry your documentation with you. This is far less stringent than most.

@mrchrmedone maybe in the u.s but if you got anywhere else they will call you american or yankee wether your black, white, or hispanic, color doesnt distinguish where your from anymore its now has to do with body language and accent sometimes how you dress too, here in Mexico we can diffrenciat american or gringos how we call you guys lol no offence from europeans it doesnt matter wat color you are, im sure its like that around the world
