  • James Brown actually did get into a bit of trouble over this, but Bowie showing compassion decided to leave Brown alone.

  • ...............

CA: It was my riff. That was all me getting all funky and stuff.First of all, They said he (James Brown) actually played the damn record in front of them. It was surprising to see David Bowie's reaction because he had great respect for James Brown as did I. So Bowie said `Let's see what kind of activity it gets. If it charts and does real good, then we'll sue him.' Still, it was real flattering for David to have had James Brown steal from him.

  • god save the king of the soul

  • @tylerneely42 It'll never happen. Bowie has too much respect for him.

  • Intellectual theft is never "right" and just because you are who you are should not supersede the law for any reason.

  • @audesemusic yeah it surprised me he stole from BT Express along with this joint here also

  • @audesemusic wait what does JB's monorail steal? Is it the intro from a Maceo Parker song?

  • @DerangedRanger1 I was about to post the same comment, but you beat me to it

  • ACTUALLY THE RIFF WRITTEN BY CARLOS ALOMAR ON BOWIE' FAME, WHO JUST HAPPENED TO BE I JB BAND IN THE PAST. YOU COULD SAY ALOMAR COPIED JB STYLE AND JB JUST TOOK IT BACK. JB DONT STEAL FROM NO ONE, HE WAS THE GODFATHER, HE MORE OR LESS INVENTED FUNK.

  • Queen Latifah did a Rap Version too

  • Jesus sounds like the Bowie record is just playing real soft in the right speaker.
