Notice how the master's feet are not parallel. His back is also straight while his students' are not. It seems that his hips are a lot more integrated with his thighs too - the base of his spine relatively straight and rooted within the middle of the pelvis when viewed from the side. The knees are above the feet, while the thighs are parallel to the ground. The evidence of his prolonged practice is obvious, especially when you compare him to the students.

  • @Erime

Because the tuck is not suppose to be "forced". It's extremely slight. There are way too many elderly Hung Gar folks who have zero complaints like you mention.

  • @TheGooberment The guy in the gray suit does not resist, he relaxes, otherwise he could not perform as he does!

  • @TheGooberment yeah man like water, right?

Use force and power, even strive, but never resist, that blocks all free flow of energy!

Perception, to understand what and how to train correctly makes all the difference.

We in the west think, we know, or we think that by copying those who are successfully, we too will reap succes. Has the past shown this beeing succesfully?

  • @Erime Alot of the stretching and strength-training exercises we do at my school seem to be impractical- and dangerous. My instructor-as well as the student instructors- tell us to bounce while stretching. I don't bounce during stretches myself, and I've found that I'm one of the most flexible guys in the class. Maybe the temple could use a refresher course on whats physically safe...

  • @Erime hi's name is Shi De Yang , my master knows him and he's over 60 years old

  • @Erim even in old age he'll do great....look Lam Chun Fai's horse stance...even now pretty good...at age of 71

  • @TheGooberment Wow I can only hold for 4 inutes, then I cry like a small piglet... HAhahAhA! I have learned Taizu CHang Quan, and Xiao Hong Quan, (Long Fist ) and (Small Flood Fist) to the point of being blindfolded, What styles are you familiar with? AMITOFO!!!!

  • @Erime Shaolin monks are very flexible anyways, they specifically train that since they're kids anyways... Plus, I think that your ligaments can be stretched if you have a good musculature surrounding your joints, and it won't cause too much problems. Source: I know many contortionists, and to avoid joint problems later on, they eventually have to do some basic strength training. (And I know that comment is one year old, I just wanted to specify, still.)

  • @TheGooberment The Sweat is the blood, and I would rather not lose any. Haha. How do I say this. I would rather not break a sweat and fully master a stance like that by the time I was 70 then to sweat like a fish, and master in 10. It's not like I'm going to use it, so why not take your time.
