The Battleship TEXAS is permanently anchored outside of Houston at the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site. Active during WWI and WWII, the TEXAS became the first battleship memorial museum in the U.S. Open for tours. For more information, visit www.LifesBetterOutside.org.

  • One old guy asked if he could go down into the engine room. He went to the exact spot where he had hidden a bottle of scotch 50 years earlier. The bottle was still there. He spilled a bit of the scotch on the deck, in memory of his friends who served on the ship with him.

  • I lived in Houston for 9 years, and one day I drove out to see that ship and it's a beauty. You can sense the history as you walk around her. Thank God it's still around for future generations to see.

  • The guy in talking in the intro must have been army. There are no "soldiers" in the Navy. "Hoorah" is more of a Marine thing though many sailors use it. "Hooyah" would be more Navy. Sounds like a great program all the same.
