Chuck Smith of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, takes us through the book of Isaiah. The Book of Isaiah was written over half a millenia before Christ walked the earth.
Among the Dead Sea Scrolls are two manuscripts of the book of Isaiah dating from the 2d—1st cent. As pre-Masoretic texts, these are important witnesses for establishing the contours of the Hebrew text of Isaiah 1,000 years before the earliest extant manuscripts of the Masoretic text.
The Great Isaiah scroll was found in the Dead Sea Caves in 1947 and is known as the Great Isaiah Scroll. It is dated at about 100 BCE and is the oldest copy of Isaiah known to exist. Previously, the Codex Leningrad, dated at 1000 AD, was the oldest known copy of the Hebrew Bible (including the book of Isaiah) in existence. The Great Isaiah scroll is 1100 years older than the Codex Leningrad and provides us with the opportunity to compare the Biblical text over the centries.
Isaiah is one of the most well documented and longest of prophetic texts; and as such holds much in the balance as the final word on the omniscience of God, and his ability to prophesy through his people, and fulfill those prophesies.
Listen and ask yourself, could this Messiah talked about be the Son of God, our Lord Jesus Christ?
