I designed a motor a year and a half ago off of this principle and tesla's high frequency current methods. I haven't built it yet due to chronic health issues but I applaud your efforts. If you have the time think about how resonance, capacitance, dv/dt of voltage and periodicity of magnet rotation might be used to create a device that looks like a motor, yet it is purely an electrical generator ;).
Well demonstrated. A magnetic motor using proper timing could use this technique to avoid eddy effect, therefore increasing efficiency, significantly.

The toroid coil works as an electromagnet, went current is added.
A good lesson showing an advantage to using electromagnets.

Maybe a push button switch you can set next to you would be easier than touching the clip to the terminal.
