September 22, 2010,Toronto, Award-winning Israeli journalist Gideon Levy has been a journalist with the Israeli newspaper Haaretz since 1982, has been covering the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, in particular the occupation of Gaza and the West Bank, for over 20 years. He is a frank critic of Israel's policies toward the Palestinians.
Gideon Levy discusses the findings of his most recent book, The Punishment of Gaza, a select compilation of his Haaretz columns from 2006, through to the aftermath of last year's Gaza massacre in which he tracks Israel's progressive abandonment of diplomacy in favour of a policy of provocation and the exercise of extreme military power. • Gideon is truly trying to save Israel, he understands that the future generations will look upon this and judge. This occupation and the way it is handled is really the building blocks for another Holocaust and Gideon have an understanding of this. The real Patriot here is Gideon that wants the world to look at Israelis with love and respect not fear and hate. The way Hitler got his following was to get the Germans to fear the Jews then hate them. The way Israel is going now is TRULY DANGEROUS!

Correction: He does NOT address the core of the conflict!

  • Mr. Levy is not a fool, far from it, and yet he does address the core of the conflict which is a philosophical one. Arabs cannot tolerate Israel as Jewish State. They might accept, for a while, a democratic state where Jews and Arabs live together, behind the 1967 borders if an exclusively Arab state is established, without any Jews, in the Territories. Anyone with a fair eye can see that that there is no justice in such a solution. Levy is a nice utopist and thus a danger to his State.
