My favorite Tori Amos song.
This is a new performance on my new keyboard. I played it this way as an aerial ballad with the heavy themes from the song gradually making themselves known piece by piece, culminating in Tori's brilliantly crafted climax.
Virginia is an allegory between a Native American woman losing her innocence and a state losing its original heritage. The ending, where the spirit of Tori attempts in vain to remind Virginia of her connection to the land, is so compelling that I get chills every time I hear it. I have much love and respect for Tori's songcraft and for me, Virginia is a song that really hammers home the manifold aspects of Tori Amos' writing prowess (both musically and lyrically).
Hope you enjoy and thanks for watching. -BPK

one of the Tori Amos songs that makes me go to another dimension, she even might be my favorite.
hearing what you have made with her just make me realize that music transcends an artist an becomes a cultural craft, changing from listener to listener
