  • highgrade1980 -- to use the expression appropriate to these old guys, right on brother! I've always liked McCain better than Bush, but his ideas are the same. Phil Gramm is exactly like this. Years ago (I'm an old guy too; sigh), Gramm faulted Clinton for dodging the draft. When it was pointed out to Gramm that he did the same, & more times, his reply was, "But I supported the war." I'm not making this up!

  • I would say the GOP has tanked but they count votes creatively.

  • this is an excellent analysis of a very valid issue. mccain's face-saver for all these years has been the value of perception. no wonder he's convinced that all of our big problems only require 'mental solutions'.
