Please read: (Lyrics below)- ever since I heard this song, (with General Hospital featuring parts of it 1-2 days every week during this past month for their new suspense storyline) - I've wanted to use it. And I've wanted to start vidding The Count of Monte Cristo- another of my fave period dramas and felt this song was perfect for it. After searching through my old VHS tapes, I found the movie last night and made the vid today. lol Yeah, I was that inspired. It's a bit simpler than I usually do, but this felt like it needed "simple".
Told in Edmond's POV. It starts in the present, then takes us back to the past, telling what happened, flashes to the present, during the birthday party for her son- then he remembers the past and how he got there- flashing back to the present when he walks from the balloon- then the future, where minus his disguise, he reveals his true identity. :)
For those who've never seen this movie, it's the story of two childhood best friends- one who betrayed the other- mostly because of desiring the love of a woman they both wanted. Edmond is sent away to the worst prison in France, and there meets another prisoner who teaches him to read, to write, and to become a master swordsman. So much more happens before one day he finds himself back in the home of his best friend-turned-nemisis- during his son's 16th birthday party. Edmond is out to seek revenge on all who betrayed him (no one recognizes him since it's been over 15 years- also they think he was executed- but Mercedes, the woman he's always loved, feels she knows it's him from the start.) A love triangle, a melodrama, an adventure, and more- I highly recommend this movie, based on the classic by Alexandre Dumas père. Starring Jim Caviezel as Edmond Dantes, Guy Pearce as Fernand Mondego, Dagmara Dominczyk as Mercedès Iguanada
Mad World - sung by Adam Lambert
All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places
Worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere
Going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression
No expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow
No tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday
Happy birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen
Sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me
No one knew me
Hello teacher, tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me
Look right through me
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very very
Mad world
Mad world
enlarged in your world
Mad world
