This is a look at open source, Linux based, game consoles, and an idea I got from them involving the future of video gaming (specifically mobile gaming) as a whole.

  • Do you know if it supports GameBoy titles?

  • @david520able I don't remember, to be honest.

  • CRYSIS?!?!? ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS?!?!? THIS LITTLE THING CAN RUN CRYSIS?!?!

  • @Mattdude454 Note that I am not a PC gamer , so I honestly can't tell the difference between any of those hardcore fps titles. It lacks the hardware power for Crisis though, and do note when this was written.

  • Competition is good. Are you asking we destroy competition and tell the consumer what they have to have and take away the option of choice? I am currently making custom controllers for my pc because the market does not already offer what I want to have and now you ask the industry to do even less for us? I think our future vision is bleak it would bring about even slower advances in technology and just more excuses for laziness and limited options.

  • @AxiomofDiscord I absolutely see your point, and, do note when I made this video. Usually my views end up changing over time and I never get around to either (A) erasing the videos or(B) updating their content. Although, I will say this in regards to "maximizing profits":. Money = greed.

  • Your right, you know. It would also be interesting to see nintendo and sony get together again. (...sort of together.)

    Although...

What about upgrading? Will someone ever be able to upgrade the hardware of a console like this?

  • @rml695 that greed pushes us to new heights in technology well unless they consolidate and milk the market when your really only have one choice or a limited pool of choices. I love open platforms I love reduced clutter and maximized options, but its tricky. You have to do it like a PC when its a standard that many companies can build ... like the 3DO i would say even more so but that is a rather hard model to make profitable even when its a licensed standard. The license owner tends to lose out

  • Openess is the future? its going need an army to be the future the future is like the past slow advances that maximize profits. Linux maybe in the server realm ...

  • its a god idea but it wont happen sony can make 100-400 dollars a pop selling there own consoles same for other manufacturers they dont care about making games they just want money
