That was indeed a huge bowfin. I didn't realize people actually fished for them in cold weather! How did you get your boat back up that icy ramp?

@Winkiedoodles...I like to target any fish that puts up a good fight. It was just a small 12' boat so we pulled it up by hand....and slid down one more time. :)

10/10 for the boat launch, and where I'm from, we call em swamp muskies, since they fight like muskies and are usually found swampy waters, also how deep where you guys fishing for them, I get em in late spring when in shallows getting ready to spawn, but that is it.

@phishing4fun...These fish hang out from 6" of water down to about 10'. This one came in about 8' of water.
