GM recently announced that the 2008 Cadillac Escalade hybrid will be available in late 2007. The Escalade hybrid will be a full hybrid using GM's new dual mode hybrid technology. Early reports indicate that the hybrid Escalade will still use a V8 in the hybrid version, but it will be a more fuel economical version than the standard 6.2 liter unit.

GM's two-mode hybrid technology will place electric motors mounted inside the transmission.

One drive mode will assist with slow, city driving, the other with highway driving.

Overall, the two-mode hybrid system should make the Escalade hybrid 25% more fuel efficient.

  • and how much is this hybrid escalade gonna cost? 80k? that can shure buy a lot of gas

  • It only gets 25 percent gain in fuel economy as compared to the non-Hybrid at a cost expected pricing: Mid-$60,000s. You have to see that it's not just about the fuel savings it is also making a better choice for the environment. If a person chooses to have a luxury vehicle they should also have options to help cut down on fuel consumption. Not everyone wants to drive a Prius and for some the size is too small.

  • For some people it is not the motivation of saving a little money on gas... it is about having a choice that is better for the environment and reducing greenhouse gases. all cars should be some kind of hybrid, run on environmentally friendly fuel, or eclectic.

don't you think that would be better for our planets future.

  • hell naw tahoes r shit cadillac r way better i have one on ma own jaja

  • name

  • if they wanted to help the envorment they would not buy a esclade because most poeple who have an eslcade think that they are better than everyone esle besause of their tank

  • Why do people buy these things? Theyre just a Tahoe and they cost twice as much.

  • its no 25% fuel economy i checked the cadillac escalade hybrid website t is 50% fuel economy

  • wrong.

  • You're off... The Escalade Hybrid comes out in 09 with 18 city 25 hwy (21 combined, lovely for a huge SUV). The ESV Hybrid comes out in 10 with 18 city 24 hwy (20 combined, lovely for an ENORMOUS SUV). The EXT Hybrid comes out in 11 with 18 city and 24 hwy as well. Cadillac will never do superbly economy-wise, but Cadillac will always be my favorite car make. Luxury beats economy any day; sorry eco nuts...

  • GM has said the Escalade hybrid will not be a strip down version like the Tahoe and Yukon Hybrids. Taking into consideration the upcoming Escalade/ESV Platinum editions are in the $80K-plus range this Hybrid's MSRP could be in the $85K to $90K.

  • No. Only Escalade for now.
