  • I asked my harpsichord builder if he could create a tall stand for my harpsichord. It occurred to me that most musicians and singers, given the opportunity to choose, would rather perform standing than sitting---the position implies greater commitment. I wanted to experience that feeling as well. The elevation also improves the projection of the harpsichord's sound. And yes, why shouldn't we harpsichordists be on "the same level" as the singers and other instrumentalists? We don't use our feet!

  • Great voice, great continuo part! The work is fantastic but it's not Bach.Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel probably wrote it.

  • Thank you so much for your correction!

  • This piece isn't by Bach, it's by Stolzel. Magdalena included it in the song book for some reason or other.

It's still quite beautiful though, and even more so when sung in a duet.

  • Sure, he is a man!

    COUNTERTENOR Marshall Coid!

"A countertenor is an adult male who sings classical music in a contralto, mezzo-soprano or (more rarely) soprano range." (Wikipedia)
