It's not so much he's emotionless as it is he doesn't like having his emotions manipulated by constant reinforcement of who the bad/good guys are as if the viewers were a gaggle of complete morons. This last point may be true, but still, TV shouldn't underestimate the intelligence of the audience; better they feel stupid than patronized.
