@adric22 hi my friend. Been using VICE for two years now and I've never managed to get it to fill the entire screen. Usually when I play a game the viewable area goes down to about half the size vertically and horizontally. Worse it goes to one side. How did you get yours to look so good? Cheers, man, all the best

still better than 2600

WOW! I Never knew they even bothered to make these games for the VIC-20. After the C=64 came out. I figured they didn't bother to make anything for the VIC-20. Thanks for this Video.

I loved Choplifter. Jupiter Lander was another favorite. Gosh at the time it was all just so mesmerizing. I mean, as primitive as it was there was something just so magical about it. Had all the Vic-20 magazines in the house, would copy down all the Basic programs they'd publish, spent hours doing that. Learned a lot. We got the 16k memory cartridge and thought that was the bomb. Wow.

My dad got me one back in the 1980 a VIC-20 . I wanted the commodore C-64 but it cost two much money back then for him to buy it for me . I also had the tape drive too it was needed for the games you wrote . I wrote a game named crazy climber . That game took me two or three days to write . The cost of the disk drive back in the day was about 800 us dollars if I remember right . Now days you can make upgrade or buy them on the internet now . Like a ethernet card , and a hook-up from a hd drive .

Could you please tell me what you did to get Donkey Kong to work on VICE Vic20? I have been trying for literally years to get Donkey Kong, Dig DUg, Pole Position, etc to work. I notice there are different Vic20 files, like .prg, .20, .40, .a00, etc. & also from Commodore. ca, files of this type "Donkey Kong-2000.prg
Donkey Kong-a000.prg". HOW did you get the games to run? It's driving me nuts.
Ahhhh, that one "OFF" note in 'Radar Rat Race'. I didn't think I wanted to ever hear it again, but here I am!

@lgh122 - I always noticed that too, but I figured it was just me.

To make these Vic20 game videos, was en emulator or real Vic20 used? If it was an emulator, could you tell me which one please?

@gjc82071 - I used VICE to get the screenshots of the games.

I loved Omega Race! And I still think using the TV as a monitor was way the hell ahead of it's time. I wonder how many console numb nuts think Nintendo came up with that? Vic20 was barely after Atari on that one, and for PC's? As far as I know, the first.
I'd have liked to have seen "Tank versus UFO," the game you could program yourself into the Vic 20 that came witht he instruction manual. Great BASIC good times.

haha.. I actually remember typing in that "tank vs. UFO" game. It took me an hour or two to type it in!
