" Where Do You Work-A John" Played on my Kimball Electramatic Player Piano. Music By: Harry Warren, Lyrics By:Mortimer Weinberg,Charlie Marks and Ernie Krickett. (1926) Played By: Earl Knight. This tune is also known as "The Delaware- Lackawan" song. Play-Rite Roll #519-A.
The lyrics are loaded with Italian ethnic slurs which was acceptable back in those days when sung and played by Italians. Much like the way the "N" word infiltrated Hip-hop and rap the past two decades

The old pianist is gone, but his soul still plays on...

@kingslice75 Yes, if you have music rolls for the piano. They did make them a few years ago. But with this internet crap. Who knows today?

@giannidog1 It's about the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad. My favorite!

I don't know all the words anymore. But some of the rest goes......"Where do you a John? On the Delaware, Lackawann. I push, I push the truck!" (I guess a baggage truck? The Delaware, Lackwanna and Western was a railroad. The route of the "Phoebe Snow" New York to Scratnton-Binghamton-Syracuse-Buffalo with connections to Cleveland and Chicago.

They sing this song in the John Wayne movie "Fighting Seabees" and you can find several versions on the internet.

Player pianos are cool but kinda creepy like it's played by a ghost :)
So can you just put any song in there?
