  • Ahhh, my old monitoring post from 1989 to stand down. Many happy memories of exercises and post meetings. It was a nice little post, right out in the countryside although right next to the new M40! Glad to see it wasn't in too much of a state considering!! Hope to see it soon...

Ex W/obs Rosemary Hobbs (now Ward).

  • No problem. I kinda dedicated a lot of my a-level study leave to learning about them instead of my actual subjects...

  • true the post I served at still had(nad still does have )the above ground post(bedford 50post brent pelham if your intrested!!)

  • Good stuff. I see it's a 'back-to-front' one too!

Also, it doesn't matter how remote they are, there is usually some sort of damage down there.

  • cheers Robbo i didn`t know that mate

  • The underground ROC posts weren't built till the early 60s, around the time of the Cuba crisis, but most went out of commission in 1991. Some have been sealed a lot longer, but they certainly didn't exist in the second world war (not underground anyway)

  • looks intresting Simon, when was it last used apart from the graffiti artist that is

there must be lots of them around the country unopened since late 1945, iv`e seen a few on the canals its just mooring and its private, i hope you`r going to do a few boating videos this season, we just bought a Freeman 22 so i`ll do some vids for youtube from the Avon. Cheers mate
