Since President Obama's election, several conservative media figures have warned their audiences that Obama is planning to, in the words of Glenn Beck, "slowly but surely take away your gun or take away your ability to shoot a gun, carry a gun" or have suggested that a government effort to ban guns is likely.

It's funny how some Americans cling to their guns, forever fearing that they get taken away. Funnier still, is the argument for why they need them. "Guns lower crime rates because people are afraid to publicly break the law". Yeah right. Is that why the US has a homicide rate nearly 5x that of other first world countries? Nearly double the rate of Iran....ya...them guns are doing a GREAT job.

@DJLunasf An American should have a gun so that when martial law is declared due to some "emergency" or "crisis" and people are rounded up and either vaccinated or thrown into a FEMA camp or both- that American MIGHT have some way of defending himself and his loved ones.

Im telling yous a s a Scot watching this with no interest that Ive watched the Republicans turn a blind eye to any talk of what was going really wrong with America. Not a fucking peep out of them. Sorry, Ron Paul being the notable exception. I watched as Beck and O Reilly just sat and bareface lied all the time. Now the Reps are out, all this stuff becomes ammo they can use. The fema camp story goes back to BUSH. Thats a fact! I know I followed it! Republicans are gullible. Thats my conclusion.

@gopalakartik Yea exactly, all those NRA rednecks shooting people daily on their mid west ranches, its not like most gun crime is in poor inner city areas, in gang crime, often carried out by immigrants from Mexicans, Afroamericans to Italians. Yea forget those facts, damn southerners!! Its not like the U.K doesnt have gun ownership laws yet has massively increasing gun crime due to the same factors that cause the crime in the U.S...damn 2nd amendment, if only we could shoot those republicans!
