All these fibrous actuators still seem too slow to be of practical use in robots. The problem seems like the valves and rate at which you can pressurize the actuator. They might only be used for certain mechanical functions rather than robotics until the rapid pressurization problem can be solved.

@DeimosSaturn The problem is air being too squishy. If they could make hydraulics faster it would work better.

is this just transfering air back and forth? or do you have to have an air tank strapped to your back with a compressor and battery lol

There are ways to make things pressurize faster, but if I remember correctly, they only work in bigger scale right now...

the muscles themselves are pretty inexpensive, I believe he listed them at around $30 a pop on his instructable. The real cost is the valves and pumps.

what type of tubing u using to make the muscle and where did u get it from? expensive? from the video, u using one solenoid to play with two muscle? or two solenoid? u using a control valve too? u r a genius man...
