Golosa, a Chicago-based Russian folk ensemble, specializes in the songs of the Semeiskie Old Believers. This video is a clip from a performance at the University of Chicago Folk Festival on February 13, 2010. Hear more at http://www.golosa.org.

Black raven, my far-flying friend, you brought me a white hand with a ring. I stepped out on the porch and staggered a little—by the ring I recognized that it was my lover's hand the raven held. He must have been killed in the war and must now lie unburied in a faraway country.
