Nintendo did really take advantage of the chip shortage in the early 90's. But Sega had a few games that broke the $70 mark, at the time. Phantasy Star 2 was the very first game I ever remember seeing that was over 60 bucks. And only because it came with that hint guide that was as thick as a damn Tom Clancy novel.
