In this video, the classical "Barking Dog" reaction is demonstrated. In this reaction, a vessel is filled with an oxidising gas and a fuel, in this case Nitrous Oxide and Carbon Disulfide.

When ignited, the reactants decompose under strong evolution of heat. This is one of the rare examples of luminescence in the gas phase.

  • and how did you get the sulphur out there? =P

  • By washing the gas- wash bottle with Toluene and Carbon Disulfide =)

  • I made a barking Dragon one time when I was making Hydrogen once & it was tha most AWESOME mistake I ever intended to do. I wanted to show my friend that The H in the 5gallon Water bottle would still be in it even afer an hour of being uncapped.
