@glamrockerqueen1 Love this song, very well sung by the lead singer as well, his voice certainly has good pitch and depth,i am surprised i didnt hear lots about them as my home town is Blackburn,Azanti i share your pain my dear,i didnt meet my dad untill i was 31,but there you go and i did miss him like hell whilst i was growing up,i will make sure my kids never lose there dad for sure on that one.

@Azanti Oh, no - you're right! Wasn't thinking on the right wave length. I didn't meet mine 'til '98 actually when I looked him up when I had my third trip to UK. Live in Perth, WA now since 'May '78 - been in Australia for 44yrs now since March, '67. Great song that anyway. Always like to hear the original, but not the remake.
-
@Mum60 He is my father - I wouldn't be the first kid not to meet his father later in life, would I?? tut!
-
@Azanti What do you mean you didn't meet 'til 1997? You said above that he is your Father.
-
@Mum60 he is around 60, I don't know his exact birthdate, he and I didnt meet until 1997. I have some recordings of me and him jamming together.
-
@Azanti Pleased to hear he's still alive. Just what I heard somewhere that's all. How old would he be now?
-
@Mum60 The lead singer, did not die, he is Lionel Morton and he is my father and is very much alive I can assure you, living with his fourth wife and kids. The person who died was Alan Ruck, the drummer.
-
@progrocer I heard a few years ago on the radio I think after the song was played, that the lead singer died a few years before. I don't know what from, probably an illness, but I don't think he was very old.
Try putting his name into Google, and see if it tells you. I think I might do that to see what he died of. Great song -I love. I heard a remake of it by them, done 'live' I think, but it didn't sound anything like the original single! I have the original in a couple of places on tape.

The only 45 I bought twice, in case I wore it out..
Still playing today.

My cousin, Mike Deighan played off the side of the stage with them.He was a great guitarist & plays the fingerstyle solo on Blackgirl. The Late Fritz Fryer sold me the guitar he used on Juliet. My cousin formed the shortlived and ill fated Fritz, Mike and Mo after Fritz left(they split after a bad motorway crash in which Mo went through the windscreen)& has since played banjo with The Temperance Seven.I live in Lancaster, half an hour from Blackburn & once headlined at The King George's Hall

You are very welcome, sorry I added it twice - at least I can claim 'stereo thinking!' May I also add that Mike Deighan is also cousin to my brother John Waite who was the singer/bass player with The Babys, singer with Bad English and has had 3 no.1 hits in America, the best known of which is 'Missing You' a solo release in 1984 and still popular worldwide. He re-released it with Alison Kraus (his partner) last year and it was once more a hit, this time in the country charts
Keep up the good work!
