Pankration is a hellenic ( greek ) organisation that promotes mma / grappling especially to younger ages.We are a full mma school and they asked us to participate. No protection , all strikes allowed standing or on the ground but no strikes to the head whatsoever, so don't take it as mma but as a bit more street credible grappling. This is the semifinal and I win.

I've seen fights where they were wearing gloves. I don't know why we werent given any. Still I'm not sure about the head strikes, I've only seen some high kicks that werent intended to cause trauma. I pretty much bargained the elbows to the body before the fight :) Maybe there are more than one organisers in greece? One of them in lamia was called Koutras if that helps. I liked the style, gloves or not. I'm thinking of participating again next year

I have participated in pankration games (panhellenic) before , and me and my opponent were wearing gloves . Strikes are allowed but light..

why dont they wear any gloves?

exactly, I think it's excellent for kids. They avoid the dead trauma. When they're adults they'll be effective grapplers and more than ready to have their heads bashed in mma!
