  • Two Gandy Dancers did not like this video

  • nice coach yard set! who made the first two cars in front of the baggage/barber shop/ buffet lounge car?

  • Starting at the Baggage Barber Shop Buffet Lounge car (3rd car) I see that this must be the 10 car Coach Yard set of the 1938 Chief. About the first 2 cars I don´t know. May I ask you how much that 10 car set was? And is it possible to install interior lighting into the cars?

By the way;: It´s an absolutely amazing train! Looks very elegant in combination with that beautiful streamlined Hudson.

  • Thats no Rivarossi, Great Job!!!

  • The heavyweight RPO is a nice touch.

  • Wow! I had assumed open frame motors, but with 5-poles. That is a good suggestion repowering. I'm familiar with NWSL as Proto Power West sells regearing kits for a variety of drives. I'm hoping to find a brass HO New Haven EP-5 electric from ALCO Models, but they're hard to find now, even on ebay. Are you running with DCC and sound? I've noticed that brass HO units retrofitted with quality sound decoders and speakers do sound phenomenal since the brass shell helps.

  • The original motors were 3 pole and open to the elements, but then that was standard issue. Now its can motors and quite gears. One way to get brass engines cheap is to buy the ol japanese models(PFM,TOBY,TENSHODO,NJCB,WSR,ect) and convert the drives to modern can motors and quiet gearing.NWSL(NORTH WEST SHORT LINE) is famous for motors and gear sets for repowering old locos. There are also guys out there that do it as a side job if you rather not tackle it on your own.

  • Thanks for that info Smoothie. Hallmark did an excellent job. One thing though, while the PFM models from the past were beauties as well, weren't their drives quite noisy and require tweaking regularly?

  • That is indeed a brass model. Its the Halmark imports 2001 model that sold for $1200 but usually sells in the neighborhood of $1500-$2000 now adays. There are plenty of the old 1970s vintage Pacific Fast Mail models created by Tenshodo that cost less and are well made, but the Hallmark model is now the standard to which all others shall be judged.

  • Wow! Santa Fe Blue goose and streamliners are gorgeous! The interiors really make the passenger cars stand out. That nicely detailed steamer doesn't look like the AHM unit either. This looks like high quality brass.
