I personally lived in England. I held onto my Irish Nationality. But I didn' t feel my living there meant that the region I lived should be a part of Ireland. Therefore it is unjustifiable in this time that someone who wants to be British should feel that because they live in the North East of our country, it should therefore be British.

@TheXand19 That was the beginning. Till then Ulster had remained the most independent and Gaelic province of Ireland. The plantation was a deliberate tactic to subdue the people there. Didn' t work. just caused a 400 year war of attrition with a few little truces in between. Whose effects are still felt to this day

@TheXand19 you re not wrong although it played right into the hands of the english that the Scots were divided. Divide and conquer. They were experts at it. It s also a fact that the Highland clearances affected Ulster, and indeed there was a famine in Scotland around 1690 which drove many to the north of Ireland. But yes, the Border Reivers were another group to come in at the behest of James I (VI of Scotland).

@Andulsi The Highland Clearances were more about greedy Scottish landlords ousting their tenants rather than the English being bastards. Think most of the N. Irish Scots descendents are descended from the Border Reiver clans in the south of Scotland though. After the Union the Scottish king needed to stop their banditry since they weren't needed as a buffer to England any more so ported them to Ireland so there were more Protestants over there.

Loyalist songs are so bad they are hilarious.

Also, one of the reasons there are so many Sots presbyterians in the north; After the Battle of Culloden, it was the only Church that helped the highlanders, so they became loyal to it. They ended up in Ulster as refugees whilst the English seized their lands for... sheep farming! Now why their descendants should be loyalists is an even bigger mystery

ok first a history lesson. The first major plantation of Ulster was in the early 1600s. Families from the borderlands of England and Scotland known there as Border Reavers. Outlaw families the Crown couldn' t control. So James I of England (VI of Scotland) grants pardons and sends them to Ulster with land grants. Great idea use one group you can t control against another (ie the Gealic Irish lords of Ulster). They were well manipulated. Their loyalty to the crown mystifies me
@Andulsi aye well your a fenian bastard for a start!! as for he english not liking us,dead on!! sure half the taigs in British Ulster have showen that they want us to remain British, say wat u want,we are British!!
