Chapter Three- Liberty Walk

Miley laid in her backyard, feeling the sun bounce against her skin. It had been a long couple of days, filled with press for her new album Can't Be Tamed. To be honest, all Miley really wanted was somebody strong enough to tame her. Somebody who would sit her down, look her in the eyes and tell her she didn't have to keep her guard up all the time. Somebody who wasn't afraid of a challenge, because even she knew how hard she was to handle. Her current beau, Liam Hemsworth, was close to perfect. He let her cry when she had a bad day, he whispered encouraging words to her when she needed reassurance and he held her close when she was falling apart. He truly was everything she needed. But he wasn't everything she wanted. And it pained her to admit that. Liam was an amazing person and she loved him dearly. But she didn't love him as much as she should.. as much as he deserved.

Just yesterday Miley had been at an interview with her old friend Ryan Seacrest. Ryan was the only interviewer Miley felt one hundred percent comfortable with. He always got her to admit her secrets. It was a curse.

Ryan sat in his booth staring into Miley's soul. She gulped and flashed him a "please don't kill me" smile. Ryan laughed and began the interview: "We're here with the always amazing Miley Cyrus. Her new album called Can't Be Tamed hits stores on Monday and we're going to get the insider access today for all of you. Now Miles, I've heard the album and let me tell you.. it's by far your best." Miley blushed and Ryan continued, "I mean almost every song could be a hit single, and I'm not just saying that because I love you. Speaking of love, a lot of your songs are love songs. Can you tell me what your inspiration has been for this album?" Miley responded, "Thank you so much. We've worked so hard on this album and it means a lot to me that you loved it so much. Uh, as for inspiration, I mean a lot of it obviously came from Liam. Infact today is our one year anniversary!" Miley paused, was today actually their anniversary? Or was it last week? Or a week from today? Shit. "Uh yeah, so most of my songs came from him." She smiled and Ryan returned the favor. "It's so great to see two kids in love, isn't it? But what about songs like 'Stay', 'Take Me Along' and 'Liberty Walk'? They sounded like they could be more about a lost love, no?" Miley rolled her eyes letting Ryan know he had hit a nerve. "Yeah, I mean obviously a few of my songs deal with more than one experience, but all of the love songs are about Liam." Miley said, putting emphasis on the word LOVE, "I think that a musician needs to make their songs personal or nobody will take them seriously. That's why I write all my own songs. Because I want people to listen to my music and feel like they know me, not some person I paid to write for me. The music industry has become a very negative place and I want to try and add some positivity into the mix." Ryan nodded and finished up the interview, giving Miley a kiss on the cheek and telling her how truly proud he was of the seventeen year old superstar.

Now sitting in her backyard, there were so many things Miley wished she would have said in that interview. She wished she would have told the world how Liberty Walk was about leaving Nick Jonas behind, after all the shit he put her through. And how Stay was about begging him not to leave and wishing he would ask her to stay, even though leaving was the best thing for both of them. And how Take Me Along was about Nick leaving her behind every time they finally had a good thing going on between them. She wished she would have told the world the story of their rollercoaster romance and how despite everything she still was madly in love with him. Even though he made me feel like a desperate idiot half of the time, she wished and prayed for his return some day in the future. But of course, she would never admit any of those things. Her lips were sealed.

It's a liberty walk, saying goodbye to people who tied you up.

Now if only she could actually walk away.. too bad that was never going to happen. She would always come back around. And she knew he would too.
