MTA (Los Angeles' regional transit system) train at Long Beach, California. Busses from Orange County Transit (OCTA), Torrance Transit, Long Beach Transit (LBTA), MTA and Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) Express can be seen at this, the southern-most terminus of Los Angeles' rapid-transit network. This was a rare day, as there was a wire-down on the line, and for some reason it was necessary to use these train-sets, ones that quite obviously don't belong on the 'Blue' Line.

  • Wow. Long Beach didn't have this when I lived and worked near it back in the mid-80's.

I'll bet this tram has transformed the area.

Is there a chance that it runs through San Pedro?

  • Close but no cigar, the Blue Line goes straight north from Long Beach. San Pedro does, however, have a new Bus Rapid Transit line along the Harbor Freeway (110)

  • why do you say those train sets dont belong on the blue line, those train sets look like all the trains on the blue line

  • There was a traffic accident up the line and this was dealt with at the time by bringing in longer trainsets from another line, and with less frequency, confirmed by a local in Long Beach.

    Notice the Del Amo signage

  • @BisonAP

The expo line will run straight to santa monica beach, so there's another upside!

  • Love this.

  • i don't know if you can call this a tram,i've never seen a tram move as fast as the LA blue line.

  • I miss Long Beach. I like going to the Library which is on the other side of the street. But hobos are always there.

  • I know, but they do resemble trams/streetcars (like Buffalo's).

  • These are high platform rail cars as are all Los Angeles lightrail and subway railcars are.

  • I made several transfers from the Blue line to the #12 bus to Lakewood here but it was a little frightening because of the bums in the Downtown L.B. area.

  • i saw that
