Amnesty International has compiled powerful letters written by 10 influential thinkers -- from an exiled poet to a former military interrogator to an esteemed actor and activist -- that boldly make the case against torture to send to President Obama.

Sister Dianna Ortiz, a catholic nun who was abducted and tortured while serving as a missionary in Guatemala. She authored one of the 10 letters, which actress Mariska Hargitay has read here during Culture Project's "Blueprint for Accountability".

Read the Ten Against Torture letters and send the one you find most moving to President Obama here: http://takeaction.amnestyusa.org/c.jhKPIXPCIoE/b.5273371/k.673C/10_Against_To....

  • This letter is absalutly speachless to me. Its so wonderful on what she's doing , but how she read this I don't know.

  • my eyes are filled with tears, i can bearly see what I'm typing, this is why I admire Mariska, because she has the courage, care and heart to educate the world on the statistics, the stories and the truth, she is not afraid to get up and tell the world what needs to be done, to help survivors and she is someone that should be everyones role model because the things she's done are incredible!, we love you Mariska<3, and we thank you for being who you are!xo

  • who the fuck would fucking dislike this

  • Tibor Varga Hungary, Mariska...

  • I listened to this for the 3rd time now and the words are so sad and yet... so damn true. My eyes filled with tears ..so much ...that I couldn't even see the screen. Ehm... I'ld like to say that I am German and whenever I mention it, ppl think of Hitler.. sad isn't it?... If Mariska should ever read this I would like her to know that your actions are truely amazing and because of you I am planning to study psychology. I do so much want to help too.

  • And this is why Mariska is my hero, she is not afraid to get out in front of all these people and read this, and Talk about Rape. I love you Marish.

  • I LOVE you Mariska

  • she´s just great!
