Blackwater: new Iraq allegations

Blackwater, a private military firm, contracted to provide security services for US officials in Iraq is no stranger to controversy. Recently two former employees have made allegations that the firm's owner Eric Prince was a crusader who "encouraged and rewarded" the destruction of Iraqi life.

The US certainly was a decisive factor but could not have won alone. They took on most of the fighting in the Pacific but so did the British and Australians in Burma and navally. You could argue that without critical British knowledge passed to the Manhattan project, the US would have faced a crippling invasion of the Japanese mainland. Even the US were sceptical they could prevail in that without severe losses and so were eager to get the Russians involved.

In the European theatre, it was the USSR that bled the Germans dry. The Red Army would have won the day without US help, even if taken slightly longer. The US was only able to get involved because the UK held out and acted as a launching platform for bombing missions and the invasion of France. But Britain may have fell without US material aid (in the form of oppressive Lend Lease).

It was a joint effort. Either way, the US did very well out of the war at Europes expense

I don't think he should underestimate the Russian warmachine like that. Look into the numbers of armor that were produced and thrown into battle by the Red Army. Put that next to the fact that every aspect of the T34 was superior to the M4 Sherman untill the The M4A1 came out only in 1944 when the war was in it's final stage.

You might want to look up the Lend-Lease program. The United States provided military hardware in HUGE numbers throughout the war. I'm not saying the US "won the war", but we essential in winning it.

I had a History teacher whom had emigrated to the US from The Soviet Union in 1988. He said a popular saying was: "WWII was won by British Brains, American money, and Russian blood."

True, America only entered the European ground war theatre when the war was all but decided.
