  • This man is one of the best politicians Britain has ever produced. What an amazing person.

  • Benn is a controversial politician. I might not agree with his policies, but he has always seemed like a nice guy. Compare him to that ridiculous oppertunist Galloway and Benn will come out on top. Unlike Galloway he is a man for the people, always has been and always will be. Which is why he has my utmost respect.

  • It's fairly depressing to me to hear Benn even entertaining the idea that Brown might have been worth supporting and that we ought to have waited to see at that point, as if he hadn't been at the heart of the New Labour nightmare.

  • Benn is a great man of dignity! There is no members in the House of Commons quite like him! And I am Conservative

  • Where is the modern day Tony Benn? New Labour needs to bring back good old labour which fought for the working man and woman and was not consumed by tory self interest.

  • I am not Labour at all but I can't not admire this man

  • It really annoys free-loaders like you when working people want their voices heard doesn't it?

  • deathtotheunions....you are even more nuts than good old tb....the pickets of the num were trying to do all they could to save their jobs....doesnt exactly make them fascists does it. Scargill may be a prat but he was right about the tories plan to close down the mines.

  • what about the fascist thugs of the NUM stopping people going to work. Was that a good idea Weggie ????

  • Good point. I'm no left winger, I'm a supporter of Thatcherite and Classical Liberal policies, but he has always stuck by his principles no matter what. You have to admire anyone who sticks to their guns like that
