Part 1 of 4. In this series you will learn how to create an awesome animated drop down menu which you can use in flash games, websites, movies, start screens, applications and so on.

Everything is done within Flash and coding is in ActionScript 3.0. Not only learn how to create and layout graphics, but to program animation and interactivity.

  • Hi there, thank you for the videos, I learned so much on your examples. However, I do have a question and it goes like this: Can I make my menu bar without menu_container movie clip? Or, is it that I must have this container because of the submenus?

  • @ravenwings247 I was thinking the same thing about thta sexy voice. :)

  • I was thinking the same thing about that sexy voice. :)

  • what's up? everything works fine except for when i try to use publish preview in html. nothing happens. it works fine when i test the movie though. any solution to this problem?

  • what is the point of doing all this when you can't access the sub menu options ... and even the hole making solution won't work. Please suggest something feasible

  • continued.... leaving an empty space for the submenu. Now try to run that movieclip again ;)

There you go, and hope it helped some.

Thank you for the really great tutorial da1bu89 :) You rock!!

  • TO PEOPLE WHO CANNOT ACCESS THEIR HOME SUB BUTTONS:

Place Rect layer above mask layer. Now, the reason we can't get our buttons to react, is because the rect layer is in front of our submenu. Therefore we need to "punch" a hole in the purple rect, where the submenu should be.

Go to the Rect layer, doubleclick on the home_rect movieclip.

Inside the movieclip, make a hole in the rectangle by choosing rectangle tool, making a rectangle inside purple rectangle and pressing delete....

  • hi great tutorial, can you use the buttons already made in the components section

    thanks

  • Great Tutorial! Thank you. But....How do you link the sub buttons to go to another frame in the main timeline?
