The third layout update video for Eric Siegel's Appalachian & Western Railroad. And yes, I run a train around the layout at the end of the video. Because YouTube videos can't be longer than 10 minutes, I had to cut out the video of the train going up onto the second level. Enjoy! More stuff at www.ericstrains.com

  • wha do you use to make the retaining wall?? (the wall in the thin table connecting the to back rooms between the lower and upper level)

  • @WJ165 That retaining wall is made from plastic and foam restins cast into a latex mold of a wall. I usually use pre-made foam wall pieces, but I had to use the plastic resin back there because there wasn't much clearance. Needed something thin.

  • @esiegel76 where do you get the pre-made foam wall pieces?

Also, you may not know the answer to this but perhaps someone else on here will. I use Lionel O27 track and on all of my 42" switches (brand new) often make the train short the system. I can't figure out why or isolate the trouble spot. Any ideas?

  • Great job on your layout. Question: Your back drops look great. How did you do them? Are they purchased? Thanks

  • @upeatm I bought them from Backdrop Warehouse.

  • Eric- you are very talented. Love your step by step explanation. As my son said- you have inspired us. Thank you!

  • Hello I like what you are doing but at the 2:27 mark of this video where you cut a new tunnel you need to change the backdrop because the way it looks, it looks a though the train is going to run on the top of the trees on the backdrop.

  • @edhayes311 That's an SD40-2T Tunnel Motor made by MTH. Glad you like the weathering!
